Caring for Country

Chris works alongside Troy, Head of the Yunbenun Land and Sea Rangers, in caring for Country.

Volunteers and students will be invited to help restore habitat, control invasive species, learn practical skills and contribute to the ongoing stewardship of the land.

Wetlands and Woodlands

The site includes Pandanus groves and tropical woodland areas that are part of the island’s natural character. These spaces are a focus for habitat care, regeneration and quiet observation.

Where We Are Now

Current work focuses on caring for and protecting the site, repairing fencing, repositioning the shipping containers and beginning their transformation into the Regional Innovation Hub and Island Gallery Collective.

The Making and Recycling Space will follow, with proposed facilities including a sheet press, glass crusher and resin-processing equipment. These facilities will explore how local waste can be transformed into useful products such as paving, cladding and landscape elements.

The remaining buildings, gardens and landscape projects will be introduced progressively as funding, validation and approvals allow.
